Hi all. Most vineyards around the state are experiencing some level of veraison. Some estimates are that we are about a week to 10 days ahead of “normal.” As the fruit begins to ripen, it is time to start concentrating on managing the Late Season Rots (LSR).
We have been blessed to have (almost Dr.) Scott Cosseboom as Dr. Mengjun Hu’s graduate student working on LSR, concentrating on Ripe Rot. Their research has really zoned in on the critical timing of infections, infection period characteristics, and timing and efficacy of fungicides for management.
Scott and Menjun will present in a webinar on Friday, August 5, starting (tentatively) at 10 am on recognition, background, and management of the LSR. Registration details for the webinar will be sent out early next week; mark your calendars! The program will be recorded for your convenience. Thanks and take care, Joe
