Dear MGGA members,
Regretfully, after much time and effort trying to organize our annual cooperative pesticide purchase program (CPPP), I am saddened to say MGGA will be unable to offer this service for the 2022 growing season. As you know, there are ongoing supply chain issues that have led to shortages across the country and the world. Last year’s freeze in Texas ruined much of the inert ingredients that go into pesticide formulations. Additionally, active ingredients that the US imports mainly from China to formulate pesticides domestically, had production vastly reduced by COVID shutdown/labor loss. What is available, is held up on shipping containers around the world.
MGGA and our vendor are not able to guarantee either price or availability and so it makes little sense to open our MGGA “store” for members to order items, and then be unable to deliver. My suggestion if you do not have a chemical vendor outside of the MGGA pesticide program, is that you google your closest distributor from the following vendors: Simplot, Nutrien, Growmark, Southern States, or if you have a farm supply store in your area, check with them as to what if any products they may have available. Consider checking with your local extension agent to see if they have any other recommendations.
My apologies that we could not make this happen for our members in 2022. I do not know how long the pesticide program has been in existence, but like all things covid, this is the first time MGGA has been unable to provide this service for many many years.
